Words from the artist:

Here’s a little insight to the thought process:

It’s the “simple” work that gets me most of the time. I’ve been thinking a lot about people and places (maybe it’s the isolation); and how to express them in this medium. Personally, when I walk into any space I notice not the people, but the shapes and colors in an environment, then the scents. I do this with people and types of people as well it’s just how my memory works. This piece, rather combination of colors, makes me think of specific women whose style and character I admire. I view them as elevated, in the way that certain homes have names, if that makes sense. It’s not a portrait of an individual per se, but an idealized version of a collective of women I’ve come to know and admire in the way they live and carry themselves. It’s a realized concept of an idealized environment. I feel a certain presence when viewing this work and I have a strong feeling the next show is going to be a series of “portraits” in a similar vein. Anyhow, that’s what is on my mind.
