Words from the artist:

A little bit of everything here for the most literal seascape I have ever made. Worth a little zoom-in on this special piece for the details. It was a process that included painting, sculpting, woodwork, fiberglass, and tinting resin. This effort was based on a very specific view in a very specific space. Nearly all of the works are created with an intended space, but this was meant to feel like the wall that it sits on doesn’t exist, or as if the piece is a “hole” in that wall. It’s a fun idea, and we even gave the train tracks a little love in there. I haven’t done a traditional landscape, and prefer to stay away from imagery, but this was a great break in that and I definitely can see this in a few versions. I love the “Hockney” vibes I get when I see this work. It makes me feel good. I love that your eye is drawn out to the horizon just like if you were looking at it in person, scanning for something. In general, Del Mar is a special place; there will always be a warm place in my heart for the great people and the casual authenticness that makes it feel like home. This piece was a lot of fun and I’m grateful for the opportunity to scratch this itch!
