SWOLE
2023
Recycled EPS, Resin, Pigment, Fiberglass, Solid White Oak, Matte Finish
54” x 72” x 6”
Words from the artist:
This rectangular, slightly convex effort feels like it’s taking a deep breath. Just a subtle amount of volume lends itself to an enlarged presence instead of feeling inflated. I think this feeling of being bottled up is palpable. There is a swelling up of energy and emotions right now. Uncertainties can be hard for a lot of people; however, it’s also an opportunity to take a beat, breathe, and think. To focus and understand. It doesn’t have to be this looming ghost in the room at least I’m tired of it not having shape, so I think it’s why I’ve wanted to give shape to some of these works. Leaning into more of a sculptural approach with the medium has been both challenging and a lot of fun. I always appreciate collectors who are willing to let me go the distance and execute the vision.
