Words from the artist:

This work is going into a close friend’s home and is the second piece of mine in their collection. It’s also the second effort like this that I’ve done which includes a bit of everything in the tool kit. A little bit of sculpting, some painting, a tiny bit of woodwork, and a fair amount of glassing. What it did include was a LOT of sanding. My fingers hurt. It’s also the second swing at a seascape. It’s a storm out there. I think it’s awesome. When the light source is centered over the piece it gives off an incredible effect of the sun breaking through. Reminiscent of those drives down PHC when you can’t help but look out there when you ought to be keeping your eyes on the road. (Yes I know the light sources are coming in from the sides in the title photo). What’s so cool about the Scapes series is that you really have to encounter them in person to get the full effect, just like a photo of a sunset doesn’t exactly feel the same as standing there in person.
